Estimates only. Assumptions are listed below, and you can change every input.

Makers often set a waitlist goal by feel: a thousand sounds good, ten thousand sounds great. But the number that matters is how many paying customers you want on launch day, and how many signups it takes to produce them once you account for the people who never open the launch email and the ones who open it and do not buy. Starting from a revenue goal and working backwards gives you a list size you can defend, and a weekly pace you can check against reality.

The estimate multiplies your expected launch conversion rate by the share of the list that is still reachable at launch to get an effective conversion rate. Your customer target divided by that rate is the list size you need. Subtracting the signups you already have and dividing by the weeks left gives the weekly pace. Launch MRR is simply the customer target times your monthly price. No conversion benchmark is baked in; the rates are yours to set from past launches or a conservative guess.

How to use this tool

  1. Enter the number of paying customers you want on launch day and your current waitlist size.
  2. Set the conversion rate you expect from reachable signups and the share of the list you expect to lose before launch.
  3. Add the weeks left and your monthly price to see the list size you need, the gap, the weekly pace and the MRR at target.

What the math assumes

  • The launch conversion rate applies only to the reachable part of the list, so the effective rate is conversion times (100 percent minus unreachable share).
  • No conversion or churn benchmark is built in; both rates are your inputs and a conservative guess is safer than an optimistic one.
  • Signups are assumed to arrive evenly across the remaining weeks; the weekly pace is a straight average, not a ramp.
  • Launch MRR is customers times monthly price with no discounts, annual plans or trials modeled.
  • If the effective conversion rate is zero the tool returns zero for the list size rather than an infinite number.

Frequently asked questions

What launch conversion rate should I use if I have never launched before?

Use a rate you would be comfortable defending to a skeptical friend, then run the tool again with half of it. If the weekly pace is still achievable in the pessimistic case, the target is realistic.

Why does the tool separate the unreachable share from the conversion rate?

Because they fail for different reasons. Bounces and unsubscribes are a deliverability and list-quality problem you can fix before launch; conversion is a pricing and offer problem. Splitting them tells you which one to work on.

The weekly pace is far above what I get today. What are my options?

Lower the customer target, push the launch date, or raise the signups per week with a referral loop and better distribution. The Waitlist Viral Coefficient Calculator on this site can show how much a referral loop adds at your current share rate.
